The Century Center, located on an 11-acre riverfront park, boasts over 100,000 square feet of flexible event space and offers exceptional service from event managers, audio/video experts, and world-class in-house catering. The facility hosts events throughout the year, including conventions, consumer shows, corporate meetings, esports, weddings, banquets, and more.

Challenges & Objectives

• The Century Center wanted a clean rebrand of their organization’s main sales and marketing kit. They needed print materials that more concisely, clearly, and uniquely articulated the offerings and services of their magnificent facility to their convention and event prospects. Additionally, the Century Center requested a new logo design that was applicable across all applications.

Solutions & Results

• The unique geometric shapes and structure of the building are part of what makes the Century Center such a “one-of-a-kind” event experience. These interesting shapes and patterns were echoed throughout the design of their new welcome kits.

• Original photography and design were used to give the Century Center sales kits attention-grabbing imagery that helped event organizers to quickly and easily understand and appreciate what makes the Century Center a favorite choice for event planners.

• Several standardized options were presented for pairing the Century Center logo with an appropriate typeface, eliminating any variation in their brand across different platforms.

Century Center’s Architectural Shapes and Structure Lend Itself to a Unique Branding Opportunity

Nestled along the St. Joseph River in downtown South Bend, Indiana, the Century Center was designed by renowned American architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee. Their collaboration resulted in the design and construction of several seminal high-rise buildings of the postmodern era.

Shown below, the Century Center features a three-story Great Hall window wall, skylight-covered walkways, and 100,000 square feet of event space, including a convention hall and ballroom, an island park and pavilion, 18 meeting rooms, and two theaters, including the Bendix Esports Arena.

The Century Center features striking geometric shapes and patterns both inside and out, created by the combination of steel, glass, and ample natural light.
